Florence and the Kind Unicorn

Florence and The Kind Unicorn is a children's book I was commissioned to Illustrate by the Author, Charlotte Williams.

It is a book based on her daughter Florence and her adventures that she takes with a unicorn called Genevieve.

During the early stages of the project, I created sketches of the layout and how I wanted things placed on the page. I did this using procreate on my iPad. Once I had created all the thumbnail sketches I sent them over to the author for approval.

Once everything had been approved, I started drawing out the linework. I always like doing the linework first for my artwork followed by the colour, that way I can keep all the pages felling harmonised. I added the text over for the author to see how the page was looking.

Here are some of my favourite illustrations featured in the book. I'm really happy with how they turned out and I know the author is happy with them too!
